Byon Morrisey, Head Coach
Byon Morrisey was named the head women’s golf coach at Mars Hill College on January 25, 2008.
Morrisey has an extensive resume. After competing at Appalachian State University, Morrisey served as an assistant at UNC Chapel Hill. She then taught 12 years in the Rutherford County School System where she coached basketball and track & field. Morrisey also became a Nationally Certified Athletic Trainer serving in that capacity at East Rutherford High School and at Lee High School in Fairfax County, VA.
An aspiring professional golfer, Mosey played on the Futures Tour for two seasons. As a golf professional she moved through the ranks from Assistant to Director of Golf and Apprentice Member to Class A credentialing with the LPGA. Upon completion of that four-year course of study and testing, Morrisey went to work for John Jacobs Golf School in Naples, FL as an instructor. She also worked at the World of Golf retail store in Naples, FL as a Club Fitter and Instructor and as an Instructor and Golf School Coordinator at the Outdoor Family Fun and ParXlent Golf Academies in Hendersonville, NC.
After graduating form Appalachian State with a teaching endorsement, Morrisey completed her master’s degree in Physical Education from UNC Chapel Hill. She has also completed course work in Pedagogy from the University of Georgia. In addition, Morrisey served as an adjunct faculty member in the Kinesiology Department at the University of Louisiana-Lafayette.
