JEFFERSON CITY, Tenn. - The Mars Hill volleyball team lost its fifth consecutive conference match on Tuesday night against Carson-Newman in three games. The Eagles defeated the Lions by scores of 25-22, 25-16 and 25-12 to improve to 9-5 overall and 3-1 in the South Atlantic Conference. The Lions fall to 7-7 overall, 1-5 in the SAC.
Jasmine Clarke (Pelham, Ala.) led Carson-Newman offensively with 10 kills. Jessica Schachleiter (Cincinnati. Ohio) followed her up with nine kills and seven digs. Angelle Hayes (Brentwood, Tenn.) had 15 digs. Stephanie Cutter (Murfreesboro, Tenn.) dished out 33 assists.
Laura Ann Huskey (West Henderson, N.C.) was the driving force for Mars Hill with seven kills and six digs. Rachel Rheinheimer (Elkhart, Ind.) posted seven digs. Sarah Paquette (Swannanoa, N.C.) tallied 15 assists.
The Lions will step out of conference to host North Greenville, a team Mars Hill has defeated twice previously this season, on Friday night inside Stanford Arena. The match will begin at 7 p.m.
