ROCK HILL, S.C. - The Mars Hill men's soccer team was picked to finish seventh in a vote of the league coaches, the conference office announced today. The Lions received 34 total points.

The Lions had three selections to the preseason All-Conference team, with forward Ernest Sobers (Enterprise, Trinidad), midfielder Rury Caulfield (Glasgow, Scotland) and defender Kenny Wallace (Glasgow, Scotland) named to the second team.

Sobers led the team last season with seven goals and 17 points. He also recorded three assists.

In 2008 Caulfield started all 18 games for Mars Hill and was second on the team with six goals. He led the team with four assists.

Wallace started 17 games for the Lions and spearheaded a defense that surrendered only 1.54 goals per game.

Tusculum College is the choice to win the 2009 SAC Championship.

The Mars Hill 2009 season opens August 27 at home against Erskine. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m.
