 MARS HILL, N.C. - No. 11 Lees-McRae College scored early in the first half to leave Mars Hill with a 1-0 victory in the Ammons Family Athletic Center and Meares Stadium. The Lions fell to 0-2-1 on the year while the Bobcats improved to 2-0 on the season.
The Bobcats scored the match winner at the 13:56 mark when Dale Parker scored off a header from a corner kick from Berin Boracic.
LMC out shot the Lions 9-3 and had seven more (9-2) corner kicks than Mars Hill. Alex Huckabee (Kernersville, N.C.) played all 90 minutes in goal for MHC and made three saves. Sean Paradise also played the entire match in the net for LMC and made two saves.
Mars Hill will host Coker College on September 5. Game time is set for a 3 p.m. start.
