Giovanni MalnatiBREVARD, N.C. - Rury Caulfield, Giovanni Malnati, and Friddy Hoegener each scored goals to propel Mars Hill over Brevard 3-0 on Wednesday afternoon. The Lions improve to 3-5-2 overall, 2-1-1 in the South Atlantic Conference. The Tornados fall to 1-9 overall, 0-4 in the SAC.

Caulfield's goal came six minutes and five seconds into the game. The Glasgow, Scotland, native beat Jack Shaw (Simpsonville, S.C.) off a feed from Simon Mariott (Glasgow, Scotland). 

Malnati, from Guayaquil, Ecuador, got in on the scoring at the 74:24 mark. He beat four Tornado defenders before blasting in the shot from 15 yards out.
Friddy Hoegener
Hoegener, a native of Cologne, Germany, scored the final goal of the game at the 87:49 mark. Shaw made a diving save on a Marriott header but was unable to coral the ball which Hoegener put in the back of the net from 10 yards out.

Mars Hill outshot Brevard 23-11 and also held a 4-1 edge in corner kicks.

Alex Huckabee (Kernersville, N.C.) recorded four saves for the Lions. Shaw made nine saves in net for the Tornados.

Mars Hill will travel to Tusculum next Wednesday. The game will start at 7 p.m.
