NEWBERRY S.C. - The Newberry College volleyball team extended its winning streak to four matches Saturday afternoon by beating the Mars Hill Lions, 3-0 (25-14, 25-18, 25-15). Mars Hill falls to 7-14 overall and 1-11 in the SAC.
Priscila Sales (Belo Horizonte, Brazil) had a solid outing Saturday with a match high 13 kills to go along with nine digs and three service aces. Although Lorena Maia (Belo Horizonte, Brazil) had half as many attacks as Sales, she took care of the ball very well and earned nine kills, three aces, and an attack percentage of .533. Brianna Blakely (Houston, Texas) earned a match high 26 assists while Nadia Andrade (Belo Horizonte, Brazil) earned a match high 14 digs.
Jenna Luke (Michawaka, Ind.) led the way for the Lions with a team high eight kills on 18 attacks. Jessica Britt (Chesapeake, Va.) also played well, leading her team in assists with 12. Evie Tafunai (Edwardsburg, Mich.) earned a team high 10 digs.
Mars Hill hosts Carson-Newman on October 28. The match will begin at 7 p.m. in Stanford Arena.
