MARS HILL, N.C. - The Mars Hill volleyball team lost to Carson-Newman in Stanford Arena in four games Tuesday night by scores of 20-25, 25-19, 25-21 and 25-17. The Lions fall to 7-15, 1-12 in the SAC. The Eagles improve to 20-12, 8-4 in the conference.
Carly Mozgai (Greenboro, N.C.) led Carson-Newman with a match high 16 kills to go along with seven digs. Kelsey Fleck (Celina, Ohio) had 13 kills while Katie Troyer (Plain City, Ohio) posted 12 kills. Salem Stepp (Morristown, Tenn.) held down the fort for the Eagles' defense with 16 digs. Stephanie Cutter (Murfreesboro, Tenn.) netted 30 assists.
Evie Tafunai (Edwardsburg, Mich.) was the driving force for Mars Hill with 15 kills and seven digs. Traci Teague (Ramseur, N.C.) registered 13 kills. Lindsay Phillips (Rosman, N.C.) recorded nine digs. Jessica Britt (Chesapeake, Va.) was the consummate teammate dishing out 35 assists.
Mars Hill travels to North Greenville University on October 30. The match will begin at 7 p.m.
