Lara BrockwellMARS HILL, N.C. - The Mars Hill men's and women's swim teams celebrated Senior Day with victories over Warren Wilson Sunday afternoon. The Lion women defeated the Owls 189-40 and improved to 9-0 overall. The Lion men won over the Owls 159-51 and improved to 8-0 overall.

Before the match, seniors Katie Brasche (Irmo, S.C.), Lara Brockwell (Asheville, N.C.), Samantha Fridd (Asheville, N.C.) and Krissy Jordan (Gainesville, Fla.) were honored for their hard work and dedication to the program. The Lions have posted a 38-3 overall record during their career.

The women's team won every race. The four seniors started off the meet with a win in the 200 Yard Medley Relay in a time of 2:07.81. Brasche also won the 100 Yard Breaststroke (1:17.73), while Brockwell took first the 100 Yard Backstroke (1:06.83).

Lena PaloLena Palo (Lexington, S.C.) won the 200 Yard Freestyle (2:02.91), 100 Yard Freestyle (55.86) and 500 Yard Freestyle (5:27.24). Tiffany Golding (Dobson, N.C.) placed first in the 50 Yard Freestyle (26.76), 200 Yard Individual Medley (2:24.38) and 200 Yard Freestyle Relay. Rebekah Thomas (Stanley, N.C.) grabbed the top spot in the 200 Yard Backstroke (2:21.39) and 100 Yard Butterfly (1:05.11). Brittany Butler (Lake Wales, Fla.) won the 200 Yard Breaststroke (2:46.89) and 200 Yard Freestyle Relay. Nikki Holt (Kennesaw, Ga.) finished first in the 200 Yard Butterfly (2:34.10). Ashley Varga (Port Charlotte, Fla.) won the 200 Yard Freestyle Relay. Kelsey Steele (Lillington, N.C.) took first in the 200 Yard Freestyle Relay.

Carson FacklerThe men's team also won every race against Warren Wilson. Carson Fackler (Bakersfield, Calif.), PJ Maloney (Corning, N.Y.), Ed Smith (Blairsville, Ga.) and Mike Wilkes (Lake Placid, Fla.) each won four events. Fackler won the 200 Yard Medley Relay, 100 Yard Backstroke (1:03.48), 200 Yard Backstroke (2:10.30) and 200 Yard Freestyle Relay. Maloney won the 200 Yard Individual Medley, 200 Yard Butterfly (2:10.49), 200 Yard Medley Relay (2:07.81) and 200 Yard Freestyle Relay. Smith won the 200 Yard Medley Relay, 100 Yard Breaststroke (1:02.42), 200 Yard Breaststroke (2:24.25) and 100 Yard Butterfly (54.80). Wilkes won the 200 Yard Medley Relay, 50 Yard Freestyle (22.85), 100 Yard Freestyle (50.98) and 200 Yard Freestyle Relay. Yonatan Arnold (Moore, Okla.) placed first in the 200 Yard Freestyle (1:54.61) and 200 Yard Freestyle Relay. Luke Hoffman (Fort Wayne, Ind.) won the 500 Yard Freestyle (5:15.80).

Both swim teams will take part in the Appalachian Conference Championships on February 20-21.
