 HICKORY, N.C. - The Mars Hill College men's and women's swimming teams defeated Lenoir-Rhyne and Pfeiffer in a dual meet Saturday afternoon. The women's team is 6-0. The men's team is 5-0. The women defeated Lenoir-Rhyne 65-57 and Pfeiffer 96-25. The men defeated Pfeiffer 131-124.
On the women's side, Lena Palo (Lexington, S.C.) won the 200 Yard Freestyle, 100 Yard Freestyle and 200 Yard Individual Medley. Rebekah Thomas (Stanley, N.C.) claimed first in the 100 Yard Backstroke and 200 Yard Backstroke. Katie Brasche (Irmo, S.C.) was victorious in the 50 Yard Freestyle. Palo, Thomas, Brasche and Tiffany Golding (Dobson, N.C.) teamed up to win the 400 Yard Freestyle Relay.
 Ed Smith (Blairsville, Ga.) won the 100 Yard Breaststroke and 100 Yard Freestyle. Carson Fackler (Bakersfield, Calif.) took the top spot in the 100 Yard Backstroke and 200 Yard Backstroke. Mike Wilkes (Lake Placid, Fla.) claimed first place in the 50 Yard Freestyle. Smith, Fackler, Wilkes and P.J. Maloney (Corning, N.Y.) collaborated to win the 400 Yard Freestyle Relay.
MHC will travel to King on January 24. The meet is scheduled to start at 1 p.m.
