MARS HILL, N.C. - The Mars Hill College women's and men's swimming teams defeated King College and LaGrange College in a double dual meet Saturday night at Harrell Pool. Both of the Lion teams improved to 4-0 on the season. The women won over King 156-60 and LaGrange 167-12. The men defeated King 166-45 and LaGrange 178-8.
 The women were dominant winning 12 of 13 events. Lena Palo (Lexington, S.C.) led the Lions winning three events. She won the 100-yard backstroke (1:03.33), 100-yard freestyle (56.43), 200-yard individual medley (2:20.08). Mariya Kulakova (Asheville, N.C.) won two events in the 100-yard breaststroke (1:14.98) and the 200-yard breaststroke (2:38.60). Tiffany Golding (Dobson, N.C.) also won two events in the 200-yard freestyle (2:09.39) and the 500-yard freestyle (5:55.13). Other winners included Nikki Holt (Kennesaw, Ga.) in the 200-yard butterfly, Katie Brasche (Irmo, S.C.) in the 50-yard freestyle and Rebekah Thomas (Stanley, N.C.) in the 200-yard backstroke.
 Ed Smith (Blairsville, Ga.) and Carson Fackler (Bakersfield, Ca.) led the men's squad winning three event apiece. Smith won the 100-yard breaststroke (1:03.25), 500-yard freestyle (5:05.29) and the 200-yard individual medley (2:07.97). Fackler won the 100-yard backstroke (57.02), 200-yard backstroke (2:03.26) and the 100-yard butterfly (55.44). P.J. Maloney (Corning, N.Y.) was victorious in the 200-yard butterfly (2:07.48). Arnold Yonatan (Moore, Okla.) won the 200-yard freestyle (1:56.14). Mike Wilkes (Lake Placid, Fla.) won the 50-yard freestyle (22.98). Sam Hartshorn (Asheville, N.C.) rounded out the individual winners placing first in the 200-yard breaststroke (2:25.74).
Mars Hill travels to Lenoir-Rhyne on January 10 to take on Lenoir-Rhyne and Pfeiffer in a double dual meet. The meet is scheduled to start at 1 p.m.
