 ETOWAH, N.C. - The Mars Hill men's golf team finished in eighth place after the final day of the 2009 Food Lion South Atlantic Conference Men's Golf Championship Monday at the Etowah Valley Country Club and Golf Resort. The team of five players fired a two-day score of 920.
Josh Spalding (Weaverville, N.C.), who fired 77 on the final day, finished in third place overall with a 219 (71+71+77). Nate Lockey (Brantford, Canada) finished tied for 19th overall with a second day team low of 74. He totaled 226 (74+78+74) to finish the tournament.
Newberry College carded a final round 294 to finish with a 54-hole total 883 to win the tournament.
