 WINGATE, N.C. - For the third consecutive week, Mars Hill goalkeeper Nick Sigona (Auburn, N.Y.) is the Deep South Conference Defensive Player of the Week, league officials announced Monday. The Lions went 1-0 on the week, defeating Catawba 17-6.
Sigona had 14 saves for the Lions in goal against Catawba. He helped hold Catawba to only one-of-five on extra-man opportunities.
Kyle Marceau of Saint Leo was tabbed Offensive Player of the Week. Cooper Gilman of Rollins was voted Freshman of the Week:
Mars Hill will travel to Lees-McRae on Wednesday. The game will start at 3:30 p.m.
