ROCK HILL, S.C. - The South Atlantic Conference Football
Players of the Week have been announced for the week ending Oct. 25, 2008. Tusculum quarterback Corey Russell was named the SAC Offensive Player of the Week, while Mars Hill linebacker Stan Galbraith and MHC return specialist John Brown garnered SAC Defensive and Special Teams Player of the Week honors, respectively.

Russell, a 6-4, 190-pound senior from Speedwell, Tenn.,
accounted for four of his team's six touchdowns in Tusculum's 45-33 home win over Newberry.  He finished the day with 390 total offensive yards, including 267 passing yards and a career-best 123 yards rushing.  The Cumberland Gap High School graduate rushed for a pair of 22-yard touchdowns, while passing for two more.  Russell earns this honor for a
fifth time this season.

Galbraith, a 5-11, 210-pound junior from Birmingham,
Ala., led the Mars Hill defense by recovering three fumbles in the
Lion's 37-24 come-from-behind win at Lenoir-Rhyne.  Two of those fumble recoveries led to MHC touchdowns.  One of those recoveries came in the third quarter to put the Lions up 20-17.  His other recovery came in the early moments of the fourth quarter, leading to a TD to put MHC up by two scores (34-24).  The Homewood High School graduate also posted eight
tackles, including a pair of solo hits.

Brown, a 5-10, 185-pound freshman from Homestead, Fla.,
returned a kickoff for an 87-yard touchdown in Mars Hill's win at
Lenoir-Rhyne.  The fourth-quarter return put the Lions ahead for good 27-24.  On the night, Brown returned a pair of kicks for 123 yards.  The Homestead High School product also made six receptions for 127 yards and a touchdown, giving him 250 all-purpose yards for the game.

The South Atlantic Conference Football Players of the
Week are selected by a vote of the league's sports information
directors.
