Dalton HardeeTIGERVILLE, S.C. - Mars Hill snapped a seven game losing streak and defeated North Greenville 5-2 Tuesday afternoon at Ashmore Field. The Lions improve to 8-8. The Crusaders drop to 2-12.

North Greenville got on the board first in the bottom of the first inning. Randy Stegall (Pauline, S.C.) singled and later scored on a wild pitch to give the Crusaders a 1-0 lead.

North Greenville struck again in the bottom of the fourth inning with one run. Anthony Foulk (Genoa, Ill.) scored when Devin Presnell (Boone, N.C.) committed an error which gave the Crusaders a 2-0 advantage.

Brian WilliamsMars Hill responded with one run in the top of the fifth and sixth innings. Presnell led off the top of the fifth with a double and later came across the plate when Tim Liberty (St. Petersburg, Fla.) hit a single. The Lions tied the game when Brian Williams (Orlando, Fla.) led off the sixth inning with a triple and scored on the next at bat off a single by Brandon Savoca (Riegelwood, N.C.).

The game remained tied until the top of the ninth inning when Dalton Hardee (Boone, N.C.) scored the deciding run. Curtis Bagwell (Simpsonville, S.C.) hit a sacrifice fly to center field, plating Hardee to give the Lions a 3-2 lead. Mars Hill scored two insurance runs in the same inning when Mike Dobre (Pompano Beach, Fla.) and Liberty scored on errors by the Crusaders.

Thomas White (Irmo, S.C.) came out of the bullpen for the Lions in the bottom of the ninth inning and closed out the game to earn the save.

Andrew RudnayAndrew Rudnay (Solon, Ohio) picked up the victory for Mars Hill. He allowed no runs and no hits in one inning of relief.

Daniel Goodnight (Ellenboro, N.C.) was tagged with the loss for North Greenville. He surrendered three runs, with one earned, on three hits in two innings of relief.

Mars Hill will travel to Limestone Wednesday. First pitch is set for 2 p.m.
