MARS HILL, N.C. - Mars Hill lost to Limestone College, 18-6, Wednesday afternoon at Henderson Field. MHC fell to 19-18 while the Saints improved to 21-16 on the season.
Brian Williams (Orlando, Fla.) led MHC at the plate going 2-5 with a pair of homeruns and three RBI. Brandon Savoca (Riegelwood, N.C.) followed going 3-4 with a double and a RBI. Don Potter (Oneonta, N.Y.) took the loss (0-2) on the mound for MHC.
Aldo Mendez led the Saints with four RBI, a pair of doubles and three hits. Greg Dailey went 4-5 with three runs scored and an RBI. Marques Kyles picked up the win (2-3) throwing 5.2 innings scattering six hits and allowing three runs.
Limestone scored four runs in the fourth inning and never looked back. The Saints then scored two runs in the fourth frame and singles runs in the fifth and sixth innings to lead 8-0 before MHC plated three runs in the bottom half of the sixth.
LC answered scoring three more runs in the top of the seventh inning to lead 11-3. After LC scored a single run in the top half of the eighth frame, MHC scored three runs in the bottom half of the inning. Williams accounted for two of the runs on his second homer of the day. The Saints scored six runs in their last at-bat to make the final tally 18-6 in favor of the Saints.
MHC will play a three-game South Atlantic Conference series at Lenoir-Rhyne this weekend. The teams will play a single game on Friday at 7 p.m. and then play a double-header at 12 p.m.
